The article examines the theoretical and practical foundations of human capital development in agricultural entrepreneurship, taking into account the specific challenges of the contemporary socio-economic environment. The purpose of the study is to provide a theoretical substantiation of the essence and importance of human capital in agricultural entrepreneurship, to identify the key factors determining its development, and to outline strategic priorities for enhancing human capital as a fundamental precondition for the modernization of the agricultural sector. The author’s contribution lies in the conceptualization of “human capital development in agricultural entrepreneurship” as a multidimensional, interdisciplinary and dynamic process that synthesizes the domains of agricultural economics, labour economics, innovation management and rural development. The article offers a systemic view of human capital as a critical asset at the micro-, meso- and macro-levels of agrarian systems. Scientific novelty is expressed in the deepening of the conceptual approach to human capital in the agrarian sphere by extending the understanding of its structure, development mechanisms and strategic role under conditions of external turbulence, climate change, global food insecurity, and demographic shifts. The research substantiates the need for a transition from traditional models of labour to knowledge- and innovation-based strategies for human capital formation, especially in rural areas. Practical significance of the obtained results is associated with the possibility of applying the proposed framework to policy-making in the fields of rural development, agri-education, agricultural modernization. The findings can be used by public authorities, educational institutions, agribusiness entities and rural communities to enhance human capital investment, promote professional training, develop institutional infrastructure and ensure social protection mechanisms. The study concludes that human capital development in agricultural entrepreneurship is a strategic imperative for the sustainable transformation of the sector. Key determinants include access to quality agricultural education and lifelong learning, technological modernization, social support systems, and motivation for innovation and entrepreneurial activity. The effectiveness of this process requires coordinated efforts across institutional, educational, and business domains.
