The article examines the role of national identity in ensuring national and international security, using Austria and Germany as case studies. National identity is considered a strategic intangible resource that influences social cohesion and the state’s institutional and economic resilience, including its capacity to pursue long-term economic priorities and to strengthen strategic autonomy. The national identity models of both countries and their relationship to contemporary security challenges are analysed. The study substantiates the relationship among national identity, economic resilience, and international stability. Its scientific novelty lies in considering national identity as a factor of the state’s strategic capacity. It is determined that national identity can strengthen national security, economic resilience, and the state’s ability to respond to contemporary challenges.
