ENVIRONMENTAL COMPONENT MANAGEMENT AS A STRATEGIC FACTOR FOR ENSURING THE SECURITY OF AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS ENTITIES

The article explores the role and significance of the environmental component within the security system of agricultural business entities. It is determined that due to its inherent weight and scale, the environmental component influences all types of operational security for agricultural businesses, including economic, financial, production-technological, legal, investment, reputational, and social security. The study substantiates that the environmental factor acts as an integrative synergistic driver for creating safe business conditions and forms the strategic foundation for the sustainable functioning and development of agricultural business structures. Among the key shortcomings and limitations hindering the systematic integration of the environmental factor into agribusiness management, the following were identified: fragmented management approaches, lack of long-term environmental planning, shortage of financial resources, high capital intensity of eco-innovations, institutional and regulatory uncertainty, personnel shortages, and the prioritization of short-term economic gains by a significant portion of agribusiness owners. An assessment of the actual effectiveness of state environmental administration in Ukraine was conducted. The results revealed a significant gap between the amount of imposed sanctions and the actual scale of environmental damage, low efficiency in compensation for environmental violations, and a steady increase in the magnitude of damages caused to the natural environment. The research concludes that given the limited state capacity for environmental management, the basis for implementing the environmental component into the agribusiness management system should be an increase in the level of socio-environmental responsibility of agricultural companies. Key recommendations for ensuring business security through environmental management include: the institutionalization of environmental risk management within agricultural formations; accelerating the implementation of resource-efficient and climate-adaptive agricultural technologies; integrating environmental criteria into financial and investment policies; and fostering an environmentally oriented corporate culture alongside developing the competencies of agribusiness personnel.
